Our Belief.

Our belief is that the key good health is through strong connections; an ability to adapt, challenge yourself and to be able to have an incredibly fun time!

This follows World Health Organisations (WHO) definition of health in which health is defined as ‘‘a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease’’. Our aim is to help support women through developing individual self-awareness of their body and the influence that mental and social well-being have upon their physical ability and recovery.

With only 8.8% of sports research focused upon female athletes (Paul et al., 2022), we want to provide a place in which women can receive scientific guidance focused upon their specific needs.

This retreat is more than just a wake up, run and have fun. It will encompass a holistic stance where the retreat will be tailored to each individual. We hope that you will leave our retreats with a deeper understanding into how you can move throughout life both physically and mentally dependant upon your individual hormonal levels, life stressors and personality traits.

Our focus:

  • Women's health and ensuring that it gets the acknowledgement that has been missing through the last few decades.

  • The influence of psychology and psychological stress on the body's physical capabilities

  • That ageing does not mean slowing down, it simply means adapting.

  • In the words of Dolly Parton “You cannot direct the wind, but you can adjust the sails'', we hope to provide a place in which you can learn to adjust the sails for your body specifically.

Who is RunTreat for?

You don’t need to be an ultra-runner to join us but in the interest of your safety, you should be comfortable running regularly and ready for a challenge.

To make sure you can enjoy the experience safely and confidently, we recommend that you:

  • Are comfortable running 8–10 km at an easy, conversational pace.

  • Currently run around 2–3 times per week.

  • Can comfortably walk for several hours if needed.

  • Have a recent 20–22 km run under your belt.

  • Are happy to use a run/walk approach when needed.

  • Are prepared to build your training gradually before the retreat.

You don't need to be fast. You don't need to have run an ultra. You just need a good base of running fitness, a willingness to challenge yourself, and a sense of adventure!

We'll help you prepare with guidance before the retreat, so you arrive feeling confident and ready to take on each challenge.
